New Normal
A downloadable game
"You're in pain but that doesn't stop things from happening. You still have friends to hang out with, places to go, and things to do."
This is an empathy game about chronic pain based on my experiences living with a chronic intractable migraine for over a year.
To play you will need a notecard, a pencil or pen, a deck of cards with jokers, and one six sided die.
If you'd like to hear an actual play of this game, I was on Party of One and you can listen to that episode here: https://www.partyofonepodcast.com/2019/07/24/189-new-normal-with-ell/

This game is a great way to show what it's like living with a chronic illness. I especially value the way if you are playing with other people there is a community aspect to deciding how to share resources and suffering, and really appreciate the suggestions for consent mechanics.
thank you!
it took me a long time to figure out how to make this game work right in terms of both showing what it’s like to experience chronic pain the way i do and also not being a game that’s bad to play.
